Hook: Stonefly Nymph Hooks #8-#12
Thread: Red 6/0
Body: Micro red Chenille

Tying Instructions:
This is a very simple fly to tie. First of all I tie on the thread and completely cover the hook with the red thread. This is to keep the entire thing red and to help hide the hook. Then cut off a piece of micro red chenille that is about twice as long as the hook shank. With a tail of about 1/4 the length of the piece you cut tie on the chenille back of the hook. Make sure to make several wraps for this. Then wrap your thread forward, without wrapping it over the chenille. Space out 4 different spots on the chenille where you tie it down to the hook, with the last one being right next to the eye of the hook and tie off your thread. Now take a lighter and singe the two ends of the chenille that extend past the hook.

Fly Information:
Some people consider using this fly to be cheating. I am not one of those people. Why do they seem to think it is cheating to use this. Well because it imitates a worm instead of an actual fly. But most of those same people use streamers and those aren't flies. Anyway this fly is one that works. It can have amazing effects when used at the right time. I've fished rivers where I couldn't catch anything and caught 30 or more fish in the same fishing holes with this fly. I have had success with this fly at any time of the year but it seems to be most effective in the early spring and late winter.
