Tied by Eric Meredith for the Dry Fly Swap

Hook: Dry Fly #8-#18
Thread: Black 6/0
Body: Peacock Quill followed by peacock herl
Wing: White Calf Body Hair
Tail: White Calf Body Hair
Hackle: Brown Hackle

Tying Instructions:
First you want to tie the wing on. Make sure to stack all the hairs so that they are even before you tie them on. The wings should be slanted out slightly and form a V with the hook. Now tie on a tail that is slightly shorter than the body of the fly. The butts of the tail should meet those of the wing on the hook so there are no gaps that could ruin the body. Use two or three strands of peacock for the body depending on the size of the fly. Using your thumb, peel off all the herl for about the first inch or so of the strands. Then tie them on and wrap them forward. Now to do the hackle start just behind the wing you tied in. Get two strips of brown hackle and wrap them forward to the eye and tie off your thread.

Fly Information:
At first glance this looks like a Royal Wulff however it is slightly different. The H and L Variant or the House and Lot Variant is an attractor just like the Royal Wulff. However at certain times this fly will produce fish when a Royal Wulff will not. It is highly effective on fast water streams and is highly visible from the white wings. This is a more challenging fly to tie.
